50% of Jutlandia Terminal's business is in green energy. For more than 25 years, we have been part of the green transition from the Port of Esbjerg, the world's largest offshore wind port. The other half of our business is oil and gas, which is part of Denmark's energy supply. That is not a contradiction we want to sweep under the carpet, it is the reality we work in, and it is precisely why sustainability is not a communications exercise for us, but a necessity.
Our approach to sustainability
Jutlandia works with sustainability based on a triple bottom line: people, planet and profit. We choose sustainable solutions wherever possible, not because it looks good, but because we know the responsibility we carry.
We reject greenwashing. We want to be transparent about what we do, what we do not do yet, and what we are working towards. Sustainability is integrated into every department of the company, it is not a project running alongside the rest of the business.
We work with sustainability because we take responsibility, because it is a necessity for the industry and for the planet, and because it is crucial to attracting and retaining the skilled people we need.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals
Jutlandia Terminal has committed to four of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Goal 7 – Affordable and clean energy: We are a key logistics partner for the offshore wind industry in the North Sea and, for 25 years, have helped make renewable energy possible on a large scale.
Goal 8 – Decent work and economic growth: We create stable, skilled jobs in Esbjerg and invest continuously in training and skills development for our employees.
Goal 12 – Responsible consumption and production: We work systematically to reduce waste, optimise resource use and choose sustainable solutions in every department.
Goal 17 – Partnerships for the goals: Sustainability cannot be achieved alone. We work actively with customers, suppliers and industry organisations to advance the green agenda in port logistics.
Sustainability in practice
Sustainable solutions have been introduced across the organisation — in the office, at the terminal, in IT and in operations. We continuously document the specific initiatives carried out in each department.
